Mission

The OK Community was founded by three sisters determined to do something meaningful with their immense grief after the tragic loss of their brother Omar. This is a place to share thoughts, stories, resources and heartfelt content. Our calling is to: create a Path for Healing.

Goals

We have decided to start this online collection in an effort to build community and connection while offering support by:

  • Providing tools and suggestions for helping someone through grief and then towards healing

  • Acknowledging that everyone’s path of healing is different

  • Encouraging rituals and ceremonies to help honor individuals who have passed

  • Leaning on eastern medicine to aid with healing through: energy work, meditation, yoga, sound baths and acupuncture

01.

Breakdown stigmas around mental health

02.

Bring awareness to addiction and fight the opioid crisis

03.

Discuss healthy ways to cope with stressors of life

Helping others through any of our efforts above are the focus of this community. The road we are walking on has been a difficult one, but we are inspired to make a difference by talking about the hard things, being vulnerable and ultimately creating a Path for Healing.

To further note: The OK Community is where grief led us during the twelve months following Omar’s passing. We officially launched on January 20, 2020 and will continually be adding content so be sure to check back regularly. We plan to add a message board if you feel inclined to share your journey. Please know that if you are hurting and need some love, we are here. You are not alone.

With much gratitude,
